Facing Rome: Drawing and Sketching Portraits in the Galleries

This class will feature several visits to the exhibition Roman Art From the Louvre to take a closer look at the many faces of Ancient Roman society as depicted by sculptors. Through a series of Thursday classes, December 6, 13, and 20, sketch and draw portraits using graphite as you learn all about the structure of the face, proportions and how to create the illusion of three-dimensional imagery. You will also spend time drawing portraits of your classmates in the art lab to further develop your portraiture skills.
